Terms of Use
DRAFT – placeholder text for Mario's approval. Not legal advice. Items in [square brackets] still need confirming.
Effective date: [CONFIRM]
These terms are between you and LIFEGAP LTD, Units 16/17, 14 Balloo Avenue, Bangor BT19 7QT, Northern Ireland (it@lifegap.org).
1. Who can use LifeGap
You must be 16 or over. [CONFIRM — live terms say 15+ with parental consent under 18.] Use LifeGap for your own learning and life admin, and keep your login private.
2. It's free
The LifeGap app and its courses are free. There are no purchases in this version of the app. If we add paid features later, we will tell you the price clearly before you pay, and you will never be charged without agreeing.
3. GapCoach AI replies are not advice
GapCoach is an AI chat assistant run by LifeGap on its own servers, using AI models from third-party providers (Anthropic Claude via Amazon Web Services; OpenAI or Google as backup). Replies, CVs and cover letters it writes are labelled as AI-generated. They are generated automatically, can be wrong, out of date or incomplete, and are not professional, medical, mental-health, legal, financial, careers or benefits advice. Check anything important with a qualified person or an official source (for example GOV.UK, NHS, Citizens Advice). You are responsible for decisions you make. GapCoach is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is at risk, call 999, Samaritans 116 123, text SHOUT to 85258, or call NHS 111. GapCoach checks messages for safety; if a message suggests someone is at risk, it shows these contacts instead of an AI reply.
4. Using GapCoach well
Don't use GapCoach to create harmful, illegal, hateful, sexual or bullying content, or to try to make it break its rules. Don't share passwords, bank details or other people's personal information. Never put false experience in a CV or letter, and check anything GapCoach writes before you send it to an employer. You can report a reply you think is wrong or harmful with the Report button on each reply (reasons: harmful, wrong, inappropriate, other). Free accounts have a monthly credit allowance for GapCoach messages; when it runs out, GapCoach pauses until the next reset (courses still work).
5. MyLifeGap
Reminders, items and photos you add to MyLifeGap stay on your phone. They are not backed up by LifeGap, so if you lose your phone or uninstall the app, they may be lost. Reminders are a helpful nudge, not a guarantee — keep official dates (MOT, passport, bills) in mind yourself.
6. Courses and certificates
Courses help you build life skills. They don't replace formal qualifications. CPD certificates are issued only for courses marked as CPD-accredited when you pass their assessment. [CONFIRM — which courses in this build are CPD-accredited.]
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you write. You let us use your quiz answers and feedback to run and improve the service. Don't post anything unlawful or anything that isn't yours to share.
8. Our content
LifeGap's courses, design and brand belong to LifeGap or its licensors. Personal, non-commercial use only.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy [link — CONFIRM URL] explains what we collect, including GapCoach chats (processed by LifeGap's AI gateway using AWS Bedrock in London, with OpenAI or Google in the EU as backup), struggle intake you choose to share, and analytics and crash data (via Google Firebase). You can delete your GapCoach data in Settings → Privacy, or delete your account in Settings or at [CONFIRM — web deletion URL].
10. Availability and liability
We try to keep LifeGap working and accurate but provide it "as is". Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer. Otherwise we are not liable for indirect loss.
11. Ending use
You can stop using LifeGap and delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
12. Changes
We will tell you in the app about significant changes.
13. Law
The laws of Northern Ireland apply, and the courts of Northern Ireland deal with disputes. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
14. Partner offers
LifeGap may show links labelled "Partner offer" to third-party products and services. If you use one, your contract is with that third party, on their terms and privacy policy. LifeGap is not responsible for their products, prices or service. LifeGap may receive a commission, at no extra cost to you. Partner offers are educational signposts, not financial, insurance or legal advice. LifeGap is not authorised by the FCA, and insurance links go only to FCA-authorised comparison services. Partner offers are available only to users aged 18+ who have opted in. They are never shown to under-18s or school-licence users, and they never include loans, credit cards, overdrafts, buy-now-pay-later or payday products. You can switch partner offers off at any time in Settings.
15. Contact
it@lifegap.org [CONFIRM — or support@lifegap.org as on the live site].
